ITEM 1: A resolution to adopt the LA-02 Standard Form for the Magrath Lions Club.
SHALL THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION BE ADOPTED?
BE IT RESOLVED, that the LA-02 standard form be adopted by the Magrath Lions Club as its official local club Constitution and By-Laws.
ITEM 2: A resolution to adopt an official standardized club form for use as Application of Membership.
SHALL THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION BE ADOPTED?
BE IT RESOLVED, that Article III Section E be amended to include: 'New member candidate nominations may be also submitted for consideration on the APPL Magrath Lions Club Application form. (APPL form - sample attached)'.
ITEM 3: A resolution to specify the amounts for entrance fees and annual dues commencing July 1, 2002. Current assessment of fees must reflect amounts due to District, Multiple District, and Lions Club International (i.e. $40 US per year per active member), expected exchange rates, and the local club administrative budget for member awards, door prizes, club and meeting supplies.
SHALL THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION BE ADOPTED?
BE IT RESOLVED, that Article V Section A be amended to include: 'Effective July 1, 2002, the one time entrance fee for new, reinstated and transfer members shall be set at $15 US or $25 CDN'.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Article V Section B be amended to include: 'Effective July 1, 2002, the annual membership dues (July 01 to June 30 each year) shall be set as outlined below:
Active $45 US or $75 CDN per year.
Member-at-Large $55 US or $90 CDN per year.
Honorary $55 US or $90 CDN per year.
Privileged $45 US or $75 CDN per year.
Life $300 US or $500 CDN one time.
Associate $25 US or $40 CDN per year.
Affiliate $60 US or $100 CDN per year.
ITEM 4: A resolution to permit a prorating of the first year annual dues based on month of acceptance of the application of membership.
SHALL THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION BE ADOPTED?
BE IT RESOLVED, that Article V Section B be amended to include: 'Annual dues may be prorated 10% per month from Oct to Jun for new, reinstated and transfer members in the first year of membership in our club. For example. If annual dues are $75 and new member joins in Jan, a 40% discount may be granted (i.e. $75 – (7.5 x 4 Sep to Dec) = $45 due for prorated annual dues Jan to Jun)'.
ITEM 5: A resolution to permit a operation of the Magrath Lions Club while total club membership is small (i.e. less than 22 members). Under the Standard Form Lions Club Constitution and By-Laws, the board of directors is made up of 13 elected members, membership committee comprised of 3 additional elected members, plus up to 11 more appointed administrative committee chairpersons, and many committee members. This resolution addresses several changes to the Standard Form to accommodate the operation of our smaller club.
SHALL THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION BE ADOPTED?
BE IT RESOLVED, that Article VIII Section A be amended to include: 'While total active club membership fails to exceed 22 members, the filling of any position for club office, director or administrative committee will be optional, except for the positions of Club President, Immediate Past President, Club Secretary, and Club Treasurer.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Article X Sections F and G be amended to include: 'The election and installation of membership committee and director club officers is optional while total active club membership fails to exceed 22 members'.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Article VIII Section D be amended to include: 'While a vacancy exists in the board of director positions listed below, the duties of those vacant positions will be redistributed as outlined below:
While no Vice President is installed, the Immediate Past Club President will assume the regular duties of the Vice President.
While no Tail Twister is installed, the Club Secretary will assume the regular duties of the Tail Twister.
While no Lion Tamer is installed, the Club Treasurer will assume the regular duties of the Lion Tamer.
While no Membership Director is installed, the Club President will assume the regular duties of the Membership Director.
While other elected Director positions remain vacant, the Club President will assume the regular duties of the those Directors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Standard Lions Club Organizational Plan (p.2) be amended to include: 'While a vacancy exists, for any reason, in Administrative or Activity Committee positions, the duties of the vacant Administrative and Activity Committees will be redistributed as outlined below:
While no Greeter or Leadership Development Committee is installed, the Immediate Past Club President will assume the regular duties of the these Committees.
While no Attendance Committee is installed, the Club Secretary will assume the regular duties of this committee.
While no Finance Committee is installed, the Club Treasurer will assume the regular duties of this committee.
Where any other Administrative or Activities Committees are not installed, the Club President will assume responsibility for the regular duties of those committees.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Article IX Section C be amended to read: 'Special meetings of the board of directors may be requested by five (5) or 50% or more members of the board of directors, which ever is less'.
ITEM 6: A resolution to define the minimum and maximum amounts for fines imposed by the Tail Twister.
SHALL THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION BE ADOPTED?
BE IT RESOLVED, that Article VIII Section D subsection (7) be amended to include: 'The minimum amount of a fine imposed by the club Tail Twister shall be $0.25 (twenty-five cents) CDN and the maximum amount of a fine imposed by the club Tail Twister shall be $1.00 (one dollar) CDN. In lieu of a monetary fine, at the discretion of the Tail Twister, the option of the performance of a specific task during the meeting (e.g. 5 minutes washing dishes) may also be given.
ITEM 7: A resolution to define additional ways notice to members may be made to include electronic email and notification on official club website.
SHALL THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION BE ADOPTED?
BE IT RESOLVED, that a new By-Law (No. 7) be created to read: 'Official club correspondence may be made by either regular or electronic post at the discretion of club officers. Members must notify the Club Secretary promptly when postal or email addresses change from that previously provided to the Magrath Lions Club via the Club Secretary. Official notices posted on the official club website, found at (http://maglion.go.to) will constitute notification to club members. Club members are encouraged to regularly visit the official club website.
The amended Constitution (LA-02 29M 7-00) and By-Laws No 1 to 7 shall take effect at the close of the regular meeting at which the same is adopted by the affirmative vote of a two-thirds majority of active member votes cast.
