Minutes Lion Meeting 26 Oct 2011

• 7pm Welcome and Call to Order - Official Meeting of the Magrath Lions Club for month of October 2011
  Roll Call (see below)

Club News:

• October Birthdays: 11 Shauna 22 Roger 26 Devar 29 Deanna
• 2011/12 Dues can be paid to Club Treasurer ($70 per person and $35 for each additional family member).

Agenda Items:

1. * Report: Financial Report Reviews (Lion T Spackman > Lion R Davies)
   - need to mail out by end of Nov
2. * Report: AGLC Appeal letter - status (Lion R Davies > Lion D Dahl > D Dahl)
   - Lion D Dahl will sign and act as Treasurer for Casino bank account.
   - appeal letter has been sent .. Jacobs letter received back - no real help .. ACLC no reply yet
3. * Discussed Lions Calendar Fundraiser: project in progress Oct-11 Nov 2011
   - flyers out now, businesses to be contacted be Lion R Davies, call out reminder to be organized by Lion D Bingley
   .. reminder: must order by 11 Nov .. production by end of Nov, distribution early in Dec
   - Fundraiser costs to date:  just over $100 for flyer printing of 800 copies and about $112 for Canada Post
   mailout 700 copies (reimb to R Davies). Approved
4. * Operation Christmas Child Drive (Lion S Davies > Lion L Dahl)
   - collection boxes and info now in school .. need empty OCC shoeboxes to give out asap .. Lion R Davies to call.
   - collections due back to Leth by 23 Nov
5. * Lions Storytelling Contest at Magrath School (Lion E Olsen) = Fri 25 Nov.
   - Lion E Olsen will prepare posters for 1 Nov 2011, will need help from club members to coordinate event.
6. * Town Christmas Program (Lion E Olsen) = Fri 9 Dec.
   - Lion E Olsen is coordinating the entire program and also leading community choir for that evening
   (to sing Handel's Messiah).  Club has already agreed to purchase and serve punch for the event
   - need mix, pop, ice, cups, napkins, etc
7. * Lions Club Uniforms (Lion S Davies)
   - Suggest Navy Golf Shirt with embossed logo 'Magrath Lions Club'. Cost est $20 per shirt.
   - Lion S Davies will get details on sizing and email everyone for ordering.
8. * New Members - Welcome
   - Lions Club Application forms are available from Lion R Davies. cc to Whites.
9. * Pending:  Youth Lions Club (Leos) at School (Lion D Bingley)
   * Pending: Eyeglass Collections Box (Lion R Davies > Lion L Dahl)
   * Pending: Magic Show Fundraiser

New Items of Business (if any):

• * Laurie-Ann suggested we discuss how to get a fenced dog park area for Magrath. Discussed ideas.
  Should discuss with town. Defer to future meeting.
• * Bills prepared for signatures: Keyline Publishing 100.80+50.40 (flyers: Inv14819 calendar+ Inv14655 food-drive),
  R Davies 112.34 (reimb InvM008105925 Canada Post re calendar mailout x 700). Also: received $31 via G Strong
  from Jul Show and Shine event to go to Lions Club (food or christmas box drives).

• * Note: Hometown Christmas 2011 is set for Thu 1 Dec. Discussed need for table for Lions Club. Agreed not needed.
