Pals of the Pool

There is a new group in town promoting the need for upgraded facilities at the Magrath Swimming Pool. I talked with Dana Bruce and Becky Doig recently on what some of their goals and plans are. They have approached the Magrath Lions Club and with Town officials for help in preparing to accomplish this project. For now, they are commencing fund raising.

How can you help? Bottle Drive: call to have your bottles picked up or just drop them at the bottle recycle center and tell them they are for the swim pool.

Haunted House Fundraiser: on October 30th (Friday night) volunteer to help and/or come attend. There with be a small admission fee and concessions after. It should be a lot of fun for the entire family, plus you will be supporting a good cause. Watch for flyers around town.

Back to School

Magrath children ages 5-18 or so are heading back to school on Monday the 31st of August - just a little earlier than last year. The initial classroom lists are now posted on the school doors (a big thing for my 6th grader) and many local stores are featuring back to school specials. There is also a school supplies 2009-10 list for Grades 1-6 available which is also important, unless you pre-ordered your supplies last year. My child pointed out that the Power School at ps.westwind.ab.ca website also tells you who the assigned teacher is .. but you need a username and password - which you can get from your last years report card.

Installation of Playground Equipment

see http://magrath-ab.net/news/blog/?p=60

On Saturday 26 Sep 2009 we installed the additional playground equipment that was been purchased for the Lions Playground by the Magrath Lions Club. It involved digging a few holes, putting the new items in place, and filling the holes back up with cement. We now have two new metal shaded picnic tables and three additional stand alone play items installed; a 4 child spring bouncer, a dolphin spring bounce and a crazy cup (for children age 2-5). Come try them out!

Water at Parade 2009

Do you love it or hate it? There seems to be little in between. In past years, there was a strict 'no water' rule, although it was difficult to enforce or justify in the hot summer sun. This image sent to us from R Marsden ..
