Imagewww.trimagrath.com If you are into it, you will know that the race is on to prepare for the 5th Annual Magrath Triathlon to take place here on Saturday Jul 19 2008. It includes an "open water swim, a scenic rural bike route, and a run through the community of Magrath" .. doesn't that sound restful?

Dr. Jim Conner of Minnesota asks: Can anyone help identify this item?

I presume it was sold from the Magrath Pharmacy or perhaps the Magrath Trading Company as a souvenir item. Alta is a common abbreviation of Alberta (AB is the current Canada Post abbreviation). The flag on the left is the British/Canadian 'Union Jack' and the one on the right most likely a variation of the 'Red Ensign' flag

Magrath Elementary

The Magrath Elementary has created an elementary website this year. You can find it at web.mac.com/magrathelementary. At the moment it is still under a lot of construction, but there are some short quicktime videos of class projects and artwork by students. The main school website is at www.westwind.ab.ca/mes/. The high school will have a corresponding site at www.westwind.ab.ca/mhs/

The Garden City Commentator reports that Mr Rob Doig of Rocky Mountain House has been appointed as the new Magrath Jr/Sr High School Principal to commence 28 Aug 2007. Our former principal Mr Roger Baldry has been promoted to Director of Curriculum/PD/Technology for the Westwind School Division.

Magrath Stake Campground

You may have heard about the Magrath Stake Campground and many have helped in the renovations over the past year or so. Now there is a new website created to provide information on how to book (and find) the upgraded campground facilities. A grand opening is expected later this summer. Although priority is given to bookings by LDS Church Groups it can be booked by other groups and is very close (less than 1 mile) from downtown Magrath. The website name is magrathstakecampground.com.

If you want a peek at the new facilities, the open house will be held Saturday July 29th at 7pm. The official dedication service will be held the next day, on Sunday night July 30th.
